Why We Exist

Caught Between Two Worlds

Many families today feel pulled in two directions. Traditional school environments often move too quickly or too rigidly for children who learn differently. But homeschooling can feel isolating, overwhelming to manage alone, and lacking the social connection every child needs.

We built Miami Homeschool Studio to offer a third path. One that honors each child's individual rhythm while surrounding them with structure, community, and expert guidance every single day.

Our Philosophy

Learning should feel like pleasure, not pressure.

The Whole Child

We don't just teach curriculum. We guide confidence, independence, resilience, and a genuine love of learning alongside strong academics.

Personalized, Not Isolated

Every child moves at their own academic level and pace, while still learning alongside peers each day. Students collaborate on projects, build real friendships, and grow within a social environment.

Technology With Intention

We embrace technology as a powerful tool, not a replacement for thinking. Students learn responsible AI use and develop healthy, purposeful relationships with screens.

How It Works

Guidance, Structure, and Flexibility

01 — Personalized Academics

Learning at Your Child's Level

Students follow FLVS or a hybrid curriculum, working at their own pace and level while being supported by experienced educators throughout the day.

02 — Guided Environment

Structured, Calm, and Purposeful

Our environment is intentionally designed to feel calm, focused, and supportive, with dedicated spaces for independent work, collaboration, guidance, and breaks throughout the day.

03 — Community Every Day

Together, Always

Students collaborate, engage in group discussions, and build lasting friendships with peers in their age group. This is more than academics. It is a learning community where children grow, connect, and thrive together.

04 — Flexible Scheduling

Built for Families

Flexible learning blocks are available to fit each family's needs. Core academics take place Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for enrichment, additional support, STEM, and projects.

05 — Judaic Studies

Optional Jewish Learning

Judaic studies are available for families who would like to incorporate Jewish learning and values into their child's educational experience.

06 — Learners of Many Ages

Designed for Every Stage

Serving students from early childhood through 10th grade, with age-based groups that combine personalized learning, collaboration, and meaningful social connection.

How This Came to Be

About Miami Homeschool Studio

Created by experienced educators, Miami Homeschool Studio offers a more personalized, flexible approach to learning.

Why We Built This

Where Homeschooling Meets Community

After years of teaching, leading schools, coaching students, and working with families, we saw that many children thrive when given more flexibility, individualized support, and the opportunity to learn at their own pace.

At the same time, many families wanted the benefits of personalized education without sacrificing community, structure, and social connection.

Miami Homeschool Studio was created to bridge that gap.

"Personalized for the individual, rooted in community."

Students receive personalized academic support while learning alongside peers in a consistent and collaborative environment.

The goal is not simply academic progress, but helping children build confidence, independence, responsibility, and a genuine love of learning.

What We Believe

Our Core Beliefs

Children Learn Differently

Not every child is ready for the same concept at the same moment. Our program honors natural developmental differences rather than forcing all children into a single academic lane.

Environment Is Everything

The physical and emotional environment a child learns in shapes who they become. We've designed ours with care to be calm, focused, respectful, and full of possibility.

Technology with Purpose

Technology is an important part of modern learning. We teach students how to use technology, including AI, responsibly and purposefully while strengthening their ability to think critically and independently.

Structure Matters

Children benefit from consistent routines and clear expectations. Structure provides a foundation that helps students build confidence, develop independence, and focus on learning.

Parents Are Partners

We believe education works best when families and educators trust one another. Whether parents prefer to be closely involved or entrust more of the day-to-day guidance to our team, we maintain open communication and keep each child's growth at the center of every decision.

More Than Academics

Academic growth is important, but it is only one part of a child's development. We also care about confidence, character, resilience, relationships, and a genuine love of learning.

Who We Are

The Founders

Milana Korchman

Milana Korchman

Co-Founder & Lead Educator

Milana has wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember. Helping children learn, grow, and gain confidence has always been at the heart of who she is. As a mathematics educator, she is known for making complex concepts simple and approachable. One of her greatest joys is helping students realize they are capable of more than they thought possible.

Throughout her career, Milana has believed that no two children learn exactly the same way. Her experience in both traditional and personalized learning environments reinforced a simple belief: children thrive when education is flexible, engaging, and built around the learner.

Milana holds dual degrees in Mathematics and Education and earned her teaching certification in New Jersey. She has taught middle school mathematics in Jewish schools throughout New Jersey and South Florida, served as an instructional coach with BetterLesson supporting teachers across the country, led professional development workshops, served as Director of Mathematics for an elementary school, and helped launch and lead a new school, overseeing operations, admissions, and academic programs.

Beyond her classroom and leadership experience, she has spent years tutoring and homeschooling students, giving her a deep understanding of how children learn. As a mother of two, she brings both professional expertise and a parent's perspective to her work.

Shanna Kohen

Shanna Kohen

Co-Founder & Lead Educator

Ms. Shanna brings enthusiasm, warmth, and a genuine passion for learning to every student she teaches. Her greatest strength lies in making complex concepts simple, approachable, and easy to understand, helping students build both competence and confidence across all subjects.

A strong advocate for financial literacy and entrepreneurship, Ms. Shanna believes these life skills are essential and naturally complement the core academic subjects. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and spent several years working in various business fields before realizing that her true calling was in education, particularly in mathematics.

Ms. Shanna holds Florida teaching certifications in Elementary Education (K–6) and Mathematics (Grades 5–9), and she is also Gifted Endorsed. During her 12 years with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, she taught and inspired students with a personalized approach that recognizes each child's unique strengths, interests, and learning style.

At the heart of Ms. Shanna's educational philosophy is the belief that true self-esteem is earned through perseverance. She believes the most meaningful confidence develops when students work through challenges, master skills that once seemed difficult, and discover their own capabilities. This authentic sense of accomplishment creates a strong foundation from which students can grow, take risks, and reach their fullest potential.

Two Ways to Learn

FLVS-Powered Pathway

We provide the learning environment, academic support, guidance, and daily accountability to help students stay engaged and successful.

Hybrid Pathway

For families who prefer a balance of screen and non-screen learning, we offer a blended approach incorporating traditional print materials, hands-on activities, and digital coursework.

Our Goal

Building a Strong Foundation

Our goal is to help every child develop the academic, social, emotional, and independence skills needed for their next stage of learning. Students build foundational literacy and math skills while also developing confidence, communication, problem-solving abilities, self-regulation, and positive learning habits.

Whether a child is preparing for Kindergarten, 1st grade, or another next step, our focus is helping them develop the skills, confidence, and love of learning that will serve them well wherever they go next.

Our Approach

The Learning Model

Personalized. Community-driven. Future-ready. Built around how children learn best.

Personalized Pacing

Every child moves at the speed of mastery.

Every child learns differently. A student may be advanced in one subject while needing additional support in another, and that's completely normal. Yet in many educational settings, students are expected to move through material at the same pace regardless of their individual strengths, challenges, or readiness.

At Miami Homeschool Studio, students work at their individual level across subjects. This allows them to be challenged where they are ready to advance and supported where they need more time to build confidence and understanding. We believe meaningful progress comes from genuine mastery, not simply moving on because the calendar says it's time.

What This Looks Like in Practice

  • A student may be working above grade level in one subject while receiving support at grade level in another.
  • Students are given the time, guidance, and support needed to build true understanding and confidence.
  • Students who are ready for more challenge can move ahead, explore enrichment opportunities, and continue growing.
  • Learning is personalized, but students remain part of a shared community where friendships, collaboration, and social growth happen every day.
The Environment

Purposeful Spaces

Our space is a thoughtfully designed learning environment where every area serves a purpose and supports the way students learn best.

Deep Work

Focus

A calm environment designed for concentration, independent thinking, and meaningful academic progress. This is where students engage deeply with their work and develop the habits that lead to lasting learning.

Individualized

Guidance

Students receive individualized instruction, feedback, and encouragement from educators who understand their strengths, challenges, and goals. Support is available when it is needed most.

Shared Learning

Collaboration

Learning is not always a solo endeavor. Through discussions, projects, peer mentoring, and group experiences, students learn to communicate, contribute, and grow alongside others.

Rest & Recharge

Reset

Intentional opportunities to pause, reflect, move, and recharge throughout the day. We believe mental energy and well-being are essential parts of meaningful learning.

Technology Philosophy

Technology is a tool.
We teach students to use it wisely.

Technology and artificial intelligence are already shaping the world our students will inherit. Rather than avoiding these tools or using them without guidance, we teach students how to use them thoughtfully, responsibly, and effectively.

At Miami Homeschool Studio, students learn to use AI for research, exploration, and deeper learning while continuing to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent thought. We believe technology should enhance learning, not replace it.

We call this responsible AI literacy.

What We Teach

Students learn how to use AI thoughtfully, evaluate information critically, and leverage technology as a tool for learning, creativity, and problem-solving.

What We Value

Independent thinking, original work, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence that comes from working through challenges.

The Balance

For families who prefer reduced screen time, our hybrid pathway integrates print materials, hands-on learning, and intentional off-screen time throughout the day.

Jewish Learning

Judaic Studies

A meaningful connection to Jewish life, learning, and tradition.

Our Approach to Jewish Learning

A meaningful connection to Jewish
life and learning.

Our Judaic Studies program is designed for families who want their children to develop a meaningful connection to their Jewish heritage through engaging, age-appropriate learning and community.

We believe Judaism offers deep wisdom, timeless values, and a strong foundation for living a meaningful life.

That spirit informs our approach to every Judaic learning experience.

"Jewish learning is about more than knowledge. It's about character, values, and identity."

Our sessions are designed to be engaging, relevant, and connected to real life. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and deepen their connection to Hebrew, Torah learning, Jewish holidays, and foundational Jewish texts.

We are a pluralistic program that welcomes families from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds, traditions, and levels of observance.

What We Offer

Areas of Study

Hebrew Language

Students develop Hebrew reading, writing, vocabulary, and conversational skills through age-appropriate instruction and practice.

Weekly Parsha

Students explore the weekly Torah portion and Torah stories through discussion, reflection, and age-appropriate learning. Students develop a deeper understanding of Shabbat, its traditions, and its significance in Jewish life.

Holidays

Students learn about Jewish holidays, traditions, mitzvot, and customs, building a deeper connection to Jewish life throughout the year.

Jewish Texts

Students engage with age-appropriate Jewish texts, including Chumash, Rashi, Mishnah, and other foundational sources, developing both knowledge and critical thinking skills.

Scheduling

Integrating Jewish Learning

Judaic Studies are offered as part of select program options and are integrated into the life of the studio. Families may choose to include Judaic Studies as part of their child's experience or participate in the academic program only. For students enrolled in Judaic Studies, sessions focus on Hebrew language, weekly Parsha, Jewish holidays and traditions, and foundational Jewish texts in an engaging, age-appropriate format.

Helpful Information

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from prospective families

About the Program

Is Miami Homeschool Studio a school?
Not in the traditional legal sense. Miami Homeschool Studio operates as a Home Education Instructional Program (HEIP) under Florida's homeschool laws. Students are registered as homeschool students, with parents remaining the educator of record. We provide the structured, in-person learning environment, academic guidance, accountability, and daily community. Most families utilize FLVS Flex for core academics, though hybrid and alternative curriculum options may also be incorporated based on each student's needs and educational goals.
What does "HEIP" mean?
HEIP stands for Home Education Improvement Program, a recognized category under Florida homeschool law that allows organizations to provide structured support and resources to homeschool families. This model allows Miami Homeschool Studio to offer a consistent learning environment, academic guidance, daily structure, and a strong sense of community while operating within the framework of home education.
How does Florida Virtual School (FLVS) work?
Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is a state-accredited online school that provides curriculum, grading, and academic records for enrolled students. At Miami Homeschool Studio, we provide the structured learning environment, academic support, guidance, and accountability that help students stay engaged and make consistent progress. While many families choose FLVS Flex, we can also support hybrid and alternative learning pathways based on a student's individual needs and goals.
Do students have to use FLVS?
We recommend FLVS Flex as the primary academic pathway because it provides a comprehensive curriculum, certified teachers, official grades, and academic records. For families who prefer a more blended approach, we can also support hybrid learning that combines digital coursework with print materials, hands-on activities, and other educational resources. We'll discuss the best approach for your child during the enrollment process.
What ages and grades do you serve?
We serve students from Pre-Kindergarten through 10th grade. Students learn alongside similar-aged peers in Pre-K/Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle School, and High School groups.

Learning & Academics

What does "personalized" actually mean here?
Personalized means students work at the level that best supports their growth in each subject. A child may be advanced in math while developing in writing, and receive the appropriate challenge and support in both. Progress is based on understanding and mastery rather than moving at the same pace as everyone else. At the same time, students remain part of a learning community where they collaborate, build friendships, and grow alongside their peers each day.
What if my child is ahead of or behind their grade level?
That is exactly what we're designed for. Students who are ready to move ahead are encouraged to do so, while students who need more time receive the support necessary to build genuine understanding and confidence. Rather than asking every child to move at the same pace, we meet students where they are and help them continue growing from there.
Will my child be on a screen all day?
No. Although students spend time on computers for FLVS coursework, AI literacy, research, and other academic activities, their day also includes collaboration, educator support, project-based learning, enrichment, movement, and social connection. For families who prefer a more balanced approach, we can also incorporate hybrid learning options that include print materials, hands-on activities, and additional off-screen learning opportunities.
How do students socialize?
Daily. Students spend time with peers throughout the day during breaks, lunch, collaborative projects, group discussions, enrichment activities, and other shared experiences. Students are grouped with similar-aged peers, allowing friendships and social connections to develop naturally. At the same time, students have opportunities to interact with learners across age groups through community activities, collaborative experiences, and informal peer mentoring. This allows younger students to learn from older peers while giving older students opportunities to develop leadership, responsibility, and confidence. Social development is an important part of our model and is intentionally woven into the daily experience.

Schedule & Logistics

What does a typical week look like?
Monday through Thursday are core academic days, with optional Judaic Studies available for enrolled families. Fridays follow a different rhythm, focused on academic enrichment, individualized support, life skills, project-based learning, STEM activities, creative exploration, and group discussions. Students may also use Fridays to complete coursework, receive additional help, strengthen challenging concepts, or catch up on academic goals. Rather than introducing major new coursework, Fridays are designed to deepen learning, build confidence, and create space for meaningful growth.
Can my child attend part-time?
Yes. While most families choose one of our standard program options, we understand that every child and family has unique needs. Because Miami Homeschool Studio is intentionally flexible, we are open to discussing customized schedules and individualized program options when appropriate. We encourage families to reach out so we can learn more about their goals and explore what may work best for their child.
Are Judaic Studies mandatory?
Judaic Studies are offered as a separate program option, allowing families to choose the experience that best aligns with their goals. Students may enroll in academics only or combine academics with Judaic Studies. For families who choose Judaic Studies, it is a meaningful and thoughtfully designed part of our program, providing students with opportunities to deepen their connection to Jewish heritage, traditions, values, and learning. Families who choose the academic-only option conclude their day at the end of the academic block.

Admissions & Tuition

How much does it cost?
Tuition varies based on the program selected. Please visit our Enrollment & Fees page for current tuition rates and a complete breakdown of options. Families may choose from Core Academics, Core Academics with Judaic Studies, Core Academics with Fridays, or our Complete Program, which includes both Judaic Studies and Fridays. We also offer a separate Pre-K Program for students ages 3–5 with a dedicated 9:00 AM–1:00 PM schedule. If you have questions about which option may be best for your child, we're happy to discuss your family's goals and help guide you through the decision.
What is the enrollment process?
It starts with a brief inquiry and introductory call. Families then complete a short application and meet with our team to discuss their child, ask questions, and learn more about the program. If both your family and our team feel aligned moving forward, we guide families through every step of onboarding, including homeschool registration, FLVS enrollment, and getting started. We make the process as simple and seamless as possible.

Pre-K Program

What ages can participate in the Pre-K program?
Our Pre-K program is designed for children ages 3–5. Students learn and grow together in a small, mixed-age environment that encourages friendship, confidence, and independence.
What is the schedule for Pre-K students?
Pre-K students attend Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Each day includes a balance of academics, creativity, movement, music, outdoor play, and hands-on learning experiences.
What does a typical day look like?
A typical day may include circle time, early literacy and math activities, music and movement, creative arts, science exploration, sensory experiences, outdoor play, hands-on projects, and social-emotional learning. Consistent routines help children feel secure while leaving plenty of room for curiosity and discovery.
What will my child learn?
Students build foundational skills in reading, writing, math, science, creativity, communication, and social development through engaging, hands-on experiences. They are also introduced to Jewish values, traditions, and holidays in age-appropriate ways. For a more detailed look at our curriculum and approach, please visit the Pre-K section of our website.
How many students are in the group?
We intentionally keep our Pre-K program small to ensure each child receives individualized attention, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to actively participate throughout the day.
How do you prepare children for Kindergarten?
Our goal is to help children enter Kindergarten with confidence and a strong foundation for future learning. Students develop early literacy and math skills, including letter recognition, phonics awareness, beginning reading and writing, number sense, counting, patterns, and problem-solving. Combined with structured routines, social development, and independence-building activities, children leave prepared for a successful transition into Kindergarten and continue thriving as learners.
How much does it cost?
For the 2026–2027 school year, tuition is $2,318 per month for five days per week (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM) or $1,800 per month for three days per week (9:00 AM–1:00 PM). Please contact us for current availability and enrollment information as spots are limited.
